“Mom, she’s got my new wallet—and she pulled my hair!”
If your home feels chaotic, change is possible. But it starts with intentional action. I believe God’s Word is powerful—alive and active enough to transform even the most cantankerous spirit. That’s why Bible memory as a family is so vital. What’s scheduled gets done, and new habits can be formed at any age.
Why Bible Memory Matters
In today’s world, children are bombarded with messages that don’t reflect God’s truth (see Philippians 4:8). Confusion can creep in early. When my son was five, he was deeply troubled after witnessing classmates steal candy. He didn’t know whether to tell the teacher or me. The emotional weight of right and wrong was heavy on his young heart.
Beliefs Shape Behavior
The story of two constantly bickering sisters—my sister Nancy and me—is proof that change is possible. After attending a two-week Bible club, memorizing Scripture, and spending time with believers, our attitudes shifted dramatically. Our mom noticed and jokingly insisted we keep going to church. We did—and it changed our lives forever.
Nancy and I remained close until her passing, and I’m grateful for the eternal hope we share because of God’s Word.
The Path to Peace
Jesus came “to guide our feet into the way of peace” (Luke 1:79). If your home needs peace, start with Scripture. You never know what God’s Word might do.
